My cousin's husband had cancer and before he died gave me all of his ties...hundreds of them, I made 6 quilts, wallhangings, etc. Took a long time but turned out great! I am attaching the California King size quilt I made with 100 Pinwheel blocks.

Well I never! That is fantastic. Never saw anything like that before. I have an old chair like that---now all I have to do is get some ties.

    Great job!

I have just the chair to make a seat like yours, sitting on the back porch...I'm interested in knowing how you started...did you cut into the ties at all or were they folded...I'm ready to try it...yours looks great...Hattie

If your mother doesn't make off with it, could you give me directions to your house? Love it!

I unfolded the ties, trimmed the "batting" to 1.25" (or matching the narrowest part of the tie) then refolded the silk snuggly and did a loose stitch to hold it in place. This makes them all the same width and easier to weave.

    Beautiful!

My husband can't wait until he retires so he can retire his ties. I always thought I'd be making a quilt out of them, but I LOVE the chair!
