I heard a rumor that Abby was leaving because she was NOT showing any signs of aging, and the directors or producers wanted her to age like Mark Harmon does. However, I don't really believe that. However, she has been interviewed about being stalked for several years and I think the pressure of that is getting to her, on top of all the other business of daily living.

Shaun, the Good Doctor, is a high functioning autistic young man--his behavior is written to be typical of someone with that disorder. i doubt he's off the show--his "explosion' is to show how hard it is for many people with autism to deal with frustration and stress.
