Red, thanks for the info...I didn't know that about shading the roots. When we settle on what we are going to do, I may try one.

Thanks for jump'n in Red...I need allllllllll the help I can get!LOL I finally had holleyhocks last year...I just love them! They were supp to come back this year...ha! Unless they haven't peeked their little heads just yet...one can always wait and watch...and wait....:)Skeat

I also love Clematis...have never thought of placing them in pots. Have one in the garden but does not do as well as yours. I may have to take your idea and try.

I love our clematis, also. They are simply gorgeous when they bloom! Your photographs are AMAZING!

I bought a Clemtis for the first time this year. I have always wanted them but was afraid i would kill them. Well I think I have. I planted them and started them up the trellis, and now the stem is turning brown and its looks like it is going to die. Does anyone know what to do?? Help!!! I don't know how to send a picture or I would show you what it looks like.

Read the second message from RedGarnet on the second page. She has a great suggestion. She says to cover the roots but read the whole thing she tells you what to do.
