Cooll place!????????

I got a free window AC from a friend and put it in my guest room. Been treating myself as a guest in my own house!
Also found a great place to go swimming today, only 6 miles from home. Nice pond. It was heavenly!

AC house to AC car to AC stores. The lake walk is actually quite pleasant because there is a breeze, but I had to forgo it today as my dog can't handle the fireworks - even off in a distance. I was on a friend's deck high over another lake last evening and that was lovely, too. Too many stairs down to the beach for me, but the deck was surrounded by trees and high so it wasn't hot.

Here in Central California we are used to the heat...It's dry heat.. not much humidity, but right now the air is bad because of the fires in the north. We will have 106 on Sunday but a mostly between 98 - 102 which is normal for us. We need this heat to ripen all the fruit, especially the grapes that are put on the ground to make raisins.
So, It is nice and cool in the early morning so I do my gardening then..My cool place is our pool..I have a very large house and hate to run the A/C but I do for a few hours in the evening. I do understand about the heat where people are not used to it. My sister just moved to TX and is complaining about the humidity. I have a friend that lives in AZ and she said that she does everything in the early morning and them crawls under a rock...hehe.

Weird, while the rest of the country is having a heat wave, our summer has been "cooler" than usual. Last year we hit 120 in June (which tends to be the hottest month). This year we've been above 110 a couple of times and our monsoon hit 2 weeks earlier than usual AND with rain...very uncommon. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

It's in the 90's and hot hot hot. But our farm touches the national forest with 5 miles of solid woodlands behind us and over the mountain. So between the trees and the mountain breeze it stays about 5 degrees colder than the city where we buy our groceries. Right now I am mostly hiding in the air conditioning, but usually you can find me swinging on my porch swing on a screened in porch when I am not Quilting.
