anyone own or use these machines? do you find them worth the price? or is it something you thought you'd love only to find it just sits in a corner? do the hold up to cutting fabric? do you own a accuquilt if so which of the machines do you prefer most? i currently own the accuquilt but don't use it near as much as i had hoped and i do have quite a few dies. but i also scrapbook a lot and all cutting by hand. i use so many more different patterns/ shapes/sizes/things in scrapbooking then in quilting, but With quilting you have your basics and you build from there. I could never convince myself that a machine with cartridges or dies for scrapbooking was worth the money for me but now they have these two cutting machines that are compatible with your computer that can cut so many options i think it would be a great machine for me. and if it could cut fabrics as advertised it would have so many more simple options for applique patterns. and even paper piecing if you know what your doing. i have been researching and looking at all sorts of reviews. But i trust this community for their inputs. Thank you for your thoughts!!!

I have a cricut but use it mostly for scrapbooking because you have iron on heat and bond or similar product to cut fabric however you do not have to buy all the cartridges you can go to their sight and but whatever pattern you want to cut then plug your cricut into your computer and cut. I do not know if it is true or not but everywhere I inquired about there paper cutting machine and asked if it really cut fabric good and was told not really it really is for paper but it will cut some fabric Hope this helps

I have an Accuquilt Studio. I had both the Go and the baby and switched to the Studio, because I preferred the flexibility of the larger format, even though it has to have a dedicated space. I can use all the Accuquilt dies, including the Go and Baby size. I have also bought some of the Sizzix dies (you just need an adapter) and they work well.

I would recommend Ebony Love's book,"Fabric Die Cutting Tips." She writes about the different machines and their pluses and minuses. She also has a website, just search for her on the internet.

I have used my tumbler die (actually a go baby die) to make a border on a quilt and several of the strip dies for doing binding and sashing. I love those for when I need to cut large numbers of pieces.

My BFF in TX has the Accuquilt cutter, and she has a group who make up their patterns, etc. using those dies. She just returned from Houston IQF and told me that she is now the proud owner of the Brother Scan and Cut. If you go on their website, look at each one of their videos to see what all it will do. After seeing it, I'm leaning more toward purchasing it than an Accuquilt...

I have the Silhouette Cameo and love it. I have not cut fabric yet - just getting used to it. I've cut mostly vinyl. Great machine - I upgraded software to the Designer edition.

I have the Go Cutter and the Silhouette Cameo. They both work great but the Go is limited to the dies. I like the Go dies for block shapes, triangles, diamonds, etc. It's limited for appliques. Both machines are great what what they are designed to do and both have limitations. Nothing does everything.

The Silhouette Cameo cuts fabric great. You can download your own pics and things from the Net to use for shapes. I have used it cut applique shapes on printer paper. Then cut the out the printer paper shapes from the fabrics I want especially if the design is intricate or complicated. It is simple to work, just some what intimidating to learn at first.
