I just saw a story about gift cards that people scan them in the store and when you go to use them they are empty! Advise from experts is buy gift cards at a service counter not the aisles!

http://www.wreg.com/
right now they have 'electronic pickpocket' on their home page. In a few days you may have to look around their site for it. We watched this on our local news. What are you supposed to do when you are going to use your credit card. You have to take it with you to use it. Don't know. But it was a valid report.

not all credit cards are at risk, check yours for the symbol. None of mine had it.

I have seen these promoted as helping with the issue. http://www.herringtoncatalog.com/es466.html a little pricey but then so is ID theft.

I guess this is another thing to worry about, along with the bedbugs.
