Yes, I worked in a factory that made men's uniform work clothes and I think the highlight was when the Viet Nam war was being fought, we made camouflage fatigues. since my brother was over there, I would pretend I was making them for him, and said a prayer that whomever wore them, they would be safe.

Back in the late 60's & early 70's I worked at E J Shoe Factory. I did top stitching with double needle, sewing the tops of men's loafer shoes. E J Shoes were a very popular shoe back then. The machines were rugged and it was all piece work. Every now and then I think back of stitching leather and how different it is than working with fabric.

Back in the Sone age when I was young. My mother worked in a factory where they make the pouches for the amo for the US Army. She became ill and could not go to work. The forman said that I could replace her until she got better if I could do the job. I made several of the pouches and he approved of my working after school for 4 hours a day and on weekends. I had been sewing ever sinse I could reach the tredle on my grandmothers machine. I worked for 2 and a half weeks until my mother got well. They are good memories.
