I had a cat who would steal things I had thrown in the chicken's pen for them to eat - like squash skins, corn cobs, rye bread. After a while we would just let him have first crack at the corn cobs, he really liked them.

I can still picture him reaching his paw in through the fence for a half-squash skin...

When I was a kid my cat had her kitten in my bedroom, so I left the window up a little so she could go out. Most cats would bring home birds or mice for babies but not Susie she brought her kitten corn cobs.
