DIL's first project - not a quilt
#1
Teaching my terrific daughter-in-law to sew - she & my son are artists & Mandy is also a wedding photographer (see MandyMohlerPhotography.com), so they chose very bright colors to recover our old couch cushions. Mandy is braver than I'd have been, but I love the way it all turned out.
This is the first thing Mandy has sewn & I think she is hooked - already planning other projects together.
BTW, this couch is over 30 years old - very sturdy oak frame & arms, but was olive green, gold, orange & brown Herculon - simply wouldn't wear out. They rescued it from our basement & it now has a new life.

New life for an old couch for son & DIL; she made all the pillows too. Curtains/drapes yet to be made & son is doing large collage of their year in Mediterranean at Cyprus Art Colony for wall behind couch.

Sweet DIL as we worked at my home.

They love "retro" items, & her land-line phone is tourquoise rotary dial - color of couch background!
I just found an old New Home 2 tone green sewing machine for her - she loves it & I'm so glad she has an interest in sewing - maybe I'll have a quilter in the family yet.

It's great that everyone is involved in designing the room, I hope you'll put up a picture of the finished room when it's done. There's something so nice about going into a cheerful room after you've been working hard all day, it just gives your spirits a huge lift.
I know you must be happy as heck to get someone to play (oops, sew) with.
My son was stationed in Cyprus for a few years, way back in the 70's-wrong it was the 80's. He loved it. He was 19 when he went there. I think I still have the earrings he brought me back.
