I would have a cat and even a dog and no telling what else we would have but we can't have pets where we live. BUMMER. So I have a squirrel that I feed out back. Does that count?

I have had cats since I was about 5 years old, and once had 25+, but I live in the country and they were all outside. Now I have two inside and two outside, plus two dogs. The current two inside like to climb all over my sewing table and knock things off.

Before these two I had one inside cat who lived to be 19. I swear he could hear fabric rustle! He could be sound asleep at the far end of the house, but if I laid a quilt top out on the floor he'd be sitting smack dab in the middle of it within a minute. I don't know how he knew because fabric doesn't really make a sound. Some sort of "cat sense" I guess.

I have an indoor cat rescued from local HS. Usually at least one outside that someone dropped off, currently only one. I used to have one that would wrap herself around the head of the sewing machine if I sat down to it!

Although I like cats, I cannot have one anywhere in my house because my DH is terribly allergic to them. Over the years we've owned several dogs and when my DD and her two girls lived with us for about 5 years, we had my daughter's Quaker Parrot (Tweets) with us. Many times while I'd be sewing "Tweets" would be on the nearby table next to the window and I'd hear, "Hi There, whatcha doin?" and I'd automatically smile and answer with, "I'm sewing". Then I'd look over to see that "Tweets" was actually looking out the window and trying to converse with other birds. And before moving in with us, when my DD was going through her divorce and had to work, she'd leave her radio on an easy pop program to keep Tweets entertained while she was gone all day. Apparently about 2 hours after she'd leave for work the station would change over to hip-hop music, so once they all began living at our house, Tweets would entertain us by singing rap songs and dancing along his perch, with his head bopping to the music he was singing. And we were amazed that we could identify the dozens of songs Tweets would sing.

Have 11 adopted cats. Outside cats unless one slips inside to say "Hello" to me. They are my "watch cats" outside in the garden as I work in the garden or pick berries. First adopted was the 6 kitten-litter: Blackie girl, Freddy, Inky, Roger, Mischief and Boots. Then came Henry, Tom and Tom-T. Then the vet tells me three more needed a good home, so Blondie, Win and Wendy joined the cat family.

My husband says, "No more". We will see. They have lots of country to roam in and are excellent mousers.
