Default Help! I'm overrun with daily chores!

Help! I'm overrun with daily chores! NO TIME TO SEW!!! A friend recently told me about a website, FlyLady.com. I checked it out and it is good. I am now a FlyBaby, am dressed to the shoes, swished and swiped, shined the sink, cleaned the counter, did a load of laundry.....And now I feel I can work on my quilting. Check it out and become a FlyBaby.

I was one for awhile but fell off the wagon. I do try to do the dishes in the sink every night as a gift to myself, and I still put out my clothes before taking a shower. And I keep meaning to do the 15 minutes a day of housecleaning, but that's where I fell by the wayside, lol.

I don't stress over housework anymore. Life's too short and I have too many quilts waiting to be pieced.

Dixie, Mr. Reynolds are permanent residents at this house. Scrubbing Bubbles and a mop for the tub (yes a mop for my tub) and micro fiber cloths get my house done by 8:00 a.m. I used to be a hairdresser so my hair cut is in the shower and out the door within 30 minutes. Any longer than that at it's time for another cut. Last time anyone said anything about my housekeeping, they were shown the door. I try to keep the house decluttered. That is the main thing. All things quilting and sewing are kept in one room. If any of it goes into another room, it goes in a tote so it can all go back to where it belongs when done. I just try to clean as I go. Laundry gives you a break.

When I feel overwhelmed w/chores and no time to sew I set a timer for 15 or 20 minutes...clean till the timer goes off then set it again and sew till it goes off. I keep doing this till I either run out of chores or it's bedtime (I work 8-5 so the chore time is before or after work). If the timer goes off and I'm in the middle of something (like dishes) I make myself walk away from them and then come back the next time it's chore time. Otherwise I could clean all night and still find something that "needs to be done"!

Fly Lady really helped me out when I was having a horrible time. Some days I couldn't even focus for the 15 minutes she suggested for housework so I focused on 5 minutes then worked my way up to 15 minutes. She has so many good suggestions. I have fallen off of the Fly Lady wagon but am getting back on. I keep my kitchen sink clean and it helps so much to wake up to a clean sink. The cleanliness and order moves on from there. If you haven't checked out Flylady.com you should take a few minutes and see what she has to offer. If you can find a few more minutes in a day to quilt it will be worth it.

I liked the FlyLady concept, but the number of emails was just overwhelming for me.

She used to have the option of sending them once a day as a 'digest.' Not sure if that's still an option since she moved to the new provider.

She really helped me think about housework differently, it's blessing my family not just drudgery I must endure. Also, it's not the killer marathon cleaning sessions I grew up with.
