Have you considered chiropractic care. I know not every one believes in what they can do, but he's really helped me.

You should be able to go on disability and then you get Medicare. My friend had 2 heart attacks and Dr. said she couldn't work (she didn't anyway) he gave her a letter and it took 3 months now she receives disability payments and medicare. She is 49 yrs old. Good luck and God bless...

Sciatica is one of the things we are best at as chiropractors but patients have some unrealistic expectations and have to realize that it's months not days to rehab sciatica. If you have problems with the cost of meds, you will have to understand that all therapies are expensive.

I am so very thankful for my health. My SIL is my doctor (for non naked things) He never charges me and gives me samples of what even he has. I've never had to pay for my Bonivia. My DD gets my sinus perscription filled for me and I pay her deductible. I have insurance, but it's $10,000 deductible. I am waiting for 65 so I can cancel my insurance. It's over $300 monthly and I've never used it. DH uses the VA hospital and gets better care and more treatments than when he had insurance. He has prostrate cancer.
I do feel for those of you that are doing without and getting into debt bc of your illness.

What upsets me greatly is to hear of doctors who will not accept Medicare patients. What happened to their oath? Did they quit taking it?

Talk to your Dr about getting samples for your meds. I have a friend who hasn't paid for meds in years. She just calls the office, tells them she's out and they hand her a little brown paper bag full. The drug company gives this stuff to Dr.s free. If it isn't used by the expiration date they have to throw it away. The Dr.s here hand out alot of little brown paer bags to people who don't have prescription coverage.

You are right about this. My SIL is always giving his patients free meds. Just have to ask.

May '06 my son had work accident and wrecked his shoulder-was told it was soft tissue damage and RSI in his wrist. 6 months later was referred to shoulder specialist then MRI showed AC joint, rotator cuff, and tendon damaged, bone chipped etc. Oct '06 Worker's Comp insurance insisted on 2nd opinion medical which coincided with MRI result so doc agreed 110% with 1st specialist. On way back to work from appointment, 4-car pile-up with my son in middle and hurt his back L5/S1, left wrist and left ankle. Back and shoulder muscles went into spasm so physio was needed for 5 months before shoulder surgery. Feb '07 ultrasound x-ray of left hip requested, radiologist reported on right hip and local GP ignored my son bringing that to his attention!! 3 years on a legal battle looming with car insurance because they say he was in wrong place at wrong time so must accept 50% blame. Early July '2010 return to work programme 3hours 3days a week proved that my son could not sit down for more than 5mins at a time. 18th Aug bone scan on back and left hip results not in but comment that MRI will be interesting!! Keep away from doctors he was told. MRI done yesterday and results due Wednesday!!! Over 4 years of life on hold and thus far 41% disabled, my son has suffered greatly - goodness knows when it will end - lucky I had room for him to live with me but he was about to buy his own home in April '06 but not allowed mortgage on meagre workers' comp payments. Our system is better than the US, but still not good enough and some doctors do not listen to patients so misdiagnose too often!!!

Many Drs in this area will not take Medicare because they get paid so little or not at all and rents and salaries are high here. They usually keep their patients as they age into Medicare but do not accept new ones as they will have to close if they take too many. It is a real problem and will only get worse as more people go on Medicare.
