Love Mortimer. He could lay in my lap any time. We lost our Newfie last year and she was only 7. But combination of issues and we finally had to admit it was time. I do miss her every day. She was definitely a lap dog until she became unable to climb on the bed or couch. Sad that the giant dogs don't live as long as the little guys. One of our Bichons was over 17 when we lost him.

What a beautiful dog! So sorry you lost him. It is so hard to loose one. and you are right, the life of a large breed isn't as long. Our first Dane, Napoleon was 10 when we had to finally let him go. He was my baby, and I still miss him today.
