I love using good china when I have the girls over for lunch, this includes cotton or linen napkins and crystal glasses. Crazy, but I like to have a nice table.

Me too! Started collecting on my first trip to England. It reminded me of all the flower gardens. Wish I could use it but its too fancy for my current life style. Someday, though.

I'm getting ready to move the china to where it's easy to get and use it more often. Both DDILhave china they don't really use. If mine should break I have to remember it's only glass. Not important enough to be upset about.

My honey says to use the China - no way will he eat a meal off a melmac or paperplate, short of absolutely no choice -so we don't have those in our house - we use the china and good glasses, and you know? it makes the food taste so fresh! took me a while to adjust to this, but wouldn't change it for the world now.

I use mine occasionally through out the year. I enjoy using it and don't even mind the washing by hand. Why have it, if you don't use it? I collected it one piece at a time -at antique stores.

i have my mother's russell wright from the late 40s or fifites-very modern for its time. have my grandmother's noritake ("belmont") from the same era. use them on occasion.

recently replaced my stainless kitchen flatware with old sets of sliverplate, because i love the look and feel of silver. i love when i toss a fork in the drawer and they "sing" to me. and every time i pick up a piece of my now mixed set of flatware, i wonder who had it first, and how it ever ended up on someplace like ebay...

I selected Noritake ironstone Sunny Side in 1968. It was used off and on everyday for years. Now, it is has been in daily use for years. Our cabinets are easier to manage and I want to enjoy the color, design and convenience of serving pieces. We are worth the risk of a chipped piece!
All pieces remain in excellent condition and we still have the four reserve teacups in original packaging.....

Lifestyles have changed. Our children could care less about fine crystal and china.

Were never to old to have and enjoy what we really appreciate. Perhaps, just a small set of "good" china to use often and satisfy our souls? TODAY is all we have, enjoy!

I use my Mother's china which my sister inherited (I live in her house) when someone else will wash the dishes as they need to be hand washed.
I didn't get a set when I married in '61, we got melmac pink and brown. When we divorced I didn't keep the melmac. Bought Corella wear one piece at a time at the outlet store.
