As a retired teacher, I always read what I post and edit if there is an error. If you make a spelling error here, it is rewarded with a red squiggly line under it, but that won't help with grammatical errors.

I cannot stand the television ads that use improper grammar and I particularly hate the "me and my brother" error! I have also written to owners of websites and report their errors to them. Some even wrote back and thanked me

I am just glad we write in my native language or I would be in real trouble  I have noticed that sometimes my words are missing letters I know I pushed, so either my keyboard wants to get involved in the post or my fingers are losing strength in my old age!

I always try to proofread but miss occasionally.
I have recently even found errors in best selling books.

I agree. Sometimes I can't tell what the person means with the way they spelled important words.
If you hit 'MUTE' on the tv then it is a machine that spells by sound and very quickly. That I can handle but on here you should edit for spelling IMHO.

I do because my fingers are crooked and hit the wrong keys sometimes. I inherited a trait from my Dad , the ring finger on right hand is closing and tips of fingers have OA in them.

For some reason the apostrophe errors (that's the plural of a singular noun and doesn't take an apotostrophe) but replaces a dropped letter as in that's used in this run on sentence. I had a secretary who sprinkled apostrophes around like pepper and I couldn't get through to her. I took out good old Strunk and White Elements of Style, enlarged the small page to letter size and left it on her desk. I figured she was sick of retyping everything I dictated and would apprecieate a reference. Instead she was furiously offended. Thus she continued to have to redo every letter and motion going into a court file after I sent it back with red marks. I'm such a snob and couldn't stand to sign my name to something so ignorant. I learned the use of punctuation in middle grades. It shouldn't be a matter of higher education. What are they teaching in the elementary schools these days?

This is not spelling but it was one of
my typing teacher's pet peeve.

Saying ve- hic- le
instead of
ve -h i -cle.
Even TV announcers say it wrong.

Sorry for my bad use of English language, I'm French speaking, new to the computer, anytime I write something on the board I wonder if you understand what I want to say. I love this forum, no superwoman here, just decent people sharing their love of quilting, their simple joys, their heartaches. I feel a bound with you, I guess that is shared by a lot of the users. No matter how is the spelling, how hazardous is the grammar, I feel the real you, this is what is important to me.
