Very cute....rescue dogs often take a little bit of time to re-train when it comes to toilet trips. I think it's because they go into cages/pens and they "forget". She'll get it together eventually....at least girls are easier to clean up after!

We got a new dog (years ago). The seller told us to take him out every hour to go potty and say "potty" while we had him outside. Good idea any time they are in a strange and new place. Within a couple of days, he went to the door and left us know he wanted to go out. It worked like charm. Just thought I'd pass this on to you in case your friend is having the same problem.

Once saw a dog with a costume. It just sort of hung over its back, and it was a bun!

I've heard of people using the phrase "Hurry Up"
(the dogs don't know one word from another until you teach them)

Let's just hope the great dane sees fit to go outside to potty. As far as housebreaking the dachsie, two words to investigate -- clicker training. It works wonders. Here's just one site explaining how to begin doing it. http://dogs.about.com/od/dogtraining...ertraining.htm
