I have a Great Dane and a Rottweiler mix that are petrified of thunder and fireworks. I bought them Thundershirts after reading the glowing recommendations on their website. I did as was instructed, let them wear them for a while during a sunny day. The biggest problem is that my dogs know the storm is coming hours before it gets here and it is impossible to get them on soon enough to work. Long story short, I returned them. The Dane liked the shirt, but hid under the cumputer desk shaking the whole time. The rottie was a nervous wreck as soon as the shirt went on; paced and wouldn't lay down. As soon as the shirt came off he layed down and slept. Try one out, it may work better on small dogs. They are guaranteed, so you can return them if not satisfied. I have also used the herbal remedies, which seem to help, but again you have to use them ahead of the storm. For my dogs, Benadryl works the best of anything; this was recommended by my vet. I didn't want to invest the money in a Thundershirt and have it not work so I used one of my DH's t-shirts. Patches is chubby and the shirt was a little loose so I tied it in a knot at the hem line. It worked!! Now I just go grab a t-shirt when it storms.

There is also a way that you can wrap an Ace bandage around the dog that does the same thing as a thundershirt. You will need to google the directions but it is cheaper than a Thundershirt.

That is what I did to see if the thunder shirt was going to work :)
