Hi All,.. yesterday I asked about using Polyfil in making a donut pet bed for shelters and rescues. I found that after washing a "test" bed a couple of times that the Polyfil started to get lumpy. Now it seems that was not the best material to use as I heard back that Polyfil does indeed get hard and lumpy and beds for shelters and rescues need to be washed a lot. I was wondering if the little pieces of polyester batting that I have saved after making square pet mats would work better in the donut beds or if you thought it might also get lumpy and hard.
May I ask your thoughts on this? I like the idea of a donut bed (pic attached of the test bed) but not sure what to use to fill it for a bed that would be washed and dried a l lot. I appreciate it very much.
Thank you.

The donut beds I have had over the years have been filled with Polyfil. I don't think the kitties would mind a lumpy bed as long as they have one. Mine didn't :-) It's so nice of you to consider the comfort of shelter animals. Thank you.

Someone here used to make pet beds for a shelter and used batting scraps cut up small. I can't remember who that was. Maybe she'll chime in later.
