It is a Downey Ball. My daughter's washer in her apartment doesn't have anywhere to put liquid softener, so this is a great answer. You put softener in the ball and put the ball in the wash. Somehow it opens at the right time and does its job. I don't like dryer sheets because of the need to clean the filter with soap and water once a month to prevent the residue from blocking the filter - I knew my daughter would forget! So now that she is in Afghanistan I get to "play with her ball"!

Iron Off is the product I used to get the gum out of my dryer when DS forgot to get out of his jeans. It is a iron cleaner, works great! (Jo-Ann's and Handcock)

Try Avon skin so soft bath oil to get the sticky off I use this for alot of things. It works on alot.
