Also, an electrical team has left from here to help with power outages in the East.

I bought the last generator at Boston Lawnmower at 8:05am this morning. It's a huge store. They probably sold more this week then they sell all year. I went without dh knowing and then called him when I knew which one to get. He wasn't happy, but it is very expensive insurance for our sump pump. We just picked it up. Tomorrow we will remove anything from the yard that can fly. I'm more worried about my tomato plants then anything else, poor babies. We used to live in NY city and Long Island. Glad I'm further north this time. Stay safe everyone.

I also have surgery on Monday to boot! :|
Teresa,

Be safe!! I travel to that area and it's beautiful! The one bright spot is that the rain should put out the Great Dismal Swamp Fire.

not sure how bad we will get it, lots of rain and wind. Already packed up the yard (we have a pavilion with seating for 55, fun times). Only need to put away the pool toys since I ran out of daylight. Going to fill jugs of water and make ice this morning.

Thought about a generator but in all my years here we never lost power for extended periods of time. The flashlights are ready, cars gassed up and cash on hand.

My concern is my office- it's across the street from a creek and has a sump pump. Nothing there to damage in the basement but the computers, etc. I would cry. Going there this afternoon to do a back up and make sure all is out of harm's way.

Most important- quilt project planned and hand quilting waiting at moments notice if needed.

I'm ready, come on Irene, I want to quilt.

I'm in Durham not too far from you. It's the same here too.

I have family and friends in Jersey City 2 blocks from the Hudson river 4 blocks from the holland tunnel and do worry about flooding. I am hoping that everyone will keep safe and if evacuation orders are given they all leave!
