Donna, that brought back memories to me. If I was baking and didn't have enough eggs I would run to the hen house, lift a few hens off the nest and put the eggs in my apron. I just gathered the ends of my apron up and set the eggs in there. I did the same when I went to pick apples ,tomatoes or cucumbers.

Another 'just for fun' clever idea.

Aprons were wonderful "tools" for housewives back in the day. I still wear an apron(force of habit).

So many rulers and tape measures have standard increments on one side and metric on the other side. Just follow the metric numbers, slide across and see the inches.

I grew up on a farm and gathered eggs often as a kid. I never knew there was a special apron for the job. My mom pulled up her apron by the corners, as others have said. My sister and I used a bowl of some type.

Just a gentle reminder...don't trip and fall with all those little pockets full of eggs....now that is one sorry mess. LOL!! Made one for a friend of mine...yep she tripped. But she still enjoys the apron -

I just go into the coop with an empty egg carton or a basket.

FYI, putting them in your coat pockets is not a good idea.
