The tutorial (crabapple hill studio) I watched said that colouring it white first makes the colours go on more smoothly and also more subtle which is what I was looking for. It was my first times so I just followed the tutorial!

I'll have to do a double trial sometime, using white and not.
Then see how the two differ.
I've been thinking of combining it with an embroidery project and seeing yours is encouraging!
Any other tips/hints you discovered while doing this, towards success for combining the two?
Thanks!

I did an entire quilt w/crayons a while back...I think I posted it in the Main section. I had some pre-printed quilt blocks for hand embroidery, and I was about to toss them when I saw a post about coloring with crayons, It has not been washed--is in a trunk for "someday", but I was really pleased with my results. I hand quilted since I had been so lazy re the creation.

I too definitely have a colouring project in the plans, but first I need to find one that calls for it.
