I don't know if General chit chat is where I need to post this or not.
We were evacuated this evening. A fire west of town came right up to the edge of town. I grabbed my jewelry & my MIL's jewelry, all the Mac minis my camera, & pictures off the walls. My DH grabbed his firearms our important papers. The cats were in my truck & the dogs were in his. Our DS had just loaded his truck up with lawn equipment because he was about to go & mow a lawn so thats what he took. After we arrived at our DIL's & other DS's house we realized that we didn't pack a change of clothes or any of our medication.:) After a couple of hours we were able to go back home!

Makes you realize quickly what the important things are. Aside from the pets, everything else could go up in flames and you would still have your lives and family! All that matters. So glad that you were able to safely return home.

How scarey! I didn't realize there were still wild fires happening in Texas. I thought for sure the drought's back had been broken with all this rain but sounds like it still isn't getting where Texas needs it most. So glad you were able to return home safe and sound. Now you need to pack yourself a little "bug out" satchel of clothes and meds so you can grab it and go with the critters.

That is a very scary situation. I am glad to hear that you were able to go back home. I've often wondered what I would grab if I had to evacuate. I have thought about making a list and then editing it down to the most important things and then kind of gathering those items into a central location. I haven't done it yet and, frankly, I hope that I never have to. Again, glad that you're safe home.
