I see them sold separately on Ebay, if you don't mind used ones. I have bought the flat ones several times for quilt backs and they never have looked used.

Everywhere I go I have to buy each sheet (fitted or top) separately. Bed, Bath and Beyond, J.C. Penneys, Macys all sell each sheet separately.

I buy my sheets at Walmart, I buy the cheap ones, that are single sheets, myself, I like them better than the expensive ones, I like a crisp sheet, and the really high tread count are to mussy for me. Just MHO

Bed Bath & Beyond has the high thread count ones..They are real nice, thats where I get my flat sheets to make my waterbed sheets. (2 full flats make 1 set of king waterbed sheets)

Macy's sells flat. I also love The Cotton Company.
I don't like fitted because I can't stand to fold fitted.
As of using sheets for quilt backs, I'd think twice on doing that,but, thats another topic thats been discussed many times.

I'm certain that I have seen sheets sold separately at WM. They had the plain and the printed in both pieces so that one could coordinate them if desired.
