I use to buy all the veggies to make salads, then would throw most of it away. I then started buying prepackaged salad mixes. I just watch the free channels on TV. My cell phone is the kind that you buy a card for the minutes, but they will charge your credit card account every month automatically so you don't have to buy the cards and they will also let you buy more minutes if you run low. Don't fill you car up to the "full" mark as it takes gas to haul it around. Buy less. Just little things like this add up over time. Buy good food, either frozen or fresh. Stay away from canned(salt). I buy Totion's pizza for $1.12 and then add my own ingredients.

I've cancelled our newspaper, lump errands together so that eliminates going out too often. I try to buy most food things at Sam's and Wal-Mart so that I've nearly cut out trips to the grocery store shopping. Hardly ever go out to eat any more, free things more (fishing), eat more leftovers, try to spend more time crafting for gift giving as opposed to buying a gift.

Hope I haven't overdone it, but these are just some of the websites that I have searched and kept in my bookmarks because they are filled with useful information. Hope this helps someone.

When we want to eat out, we eat a hot dog at Costco. A bottle of liquid starch is a LOT cheaper than spray -- mix some up and put it into a spray bottle (just remember to keep the mixed starch in the refrigerator). Turn off/unplug dvd/cd players and tvs when not in use -- even plugged in most of these still draw power. I find that some of the stuff at Costco is cheaper than a regular grocery store -- even if it goes bad before I use it all. I buy name brand stuff at WalMart. Combine trips as much as possible -- when we go to the doctor's we also hit the shops that are nearby. Unplug the microwave when not in use -- also the coffee maker if it has a clock. If you live in an area where off prime electricity is cheaper than during the day, plan to wash clothes and dishes during those hours. If you have to replace the hotwater heater, get a tankless (we saved 1/2 of our electric bill by doing this).

Shop the sales, check the unit price before deciding which size to buy (sometimes the "large economy size" actually costs more per ounce or whatever than the smaller size), shop in the mornings for meat, as yesterday's meat is often discounted first thing next day but may sell out by afternoon.
Switch over to the fluorescent lightbulbs.
Drive within the speed limit as it uses less gas. Keep your gas tank full and your oil changed for more efficient car engine function.
Swap and barter where you can.
Try starting a garden, even if it's just some tomatoes in a pot.
Call the utility companies to ask what kinds of budget plans they offer.
