This post made me laugh and cry at the same time. My sweet yellow lab, Chloe, died last week. It is amazing how much space one pet can take up in our hearts! We had 13 years to love her, so it is very quiet & lonely without her. Whenever I was in my sewing room, she would be right underfoot. I have not been able to sew & quilt yet, since being in that room without her still brings me to tears.

Oh Nita, I'm so sorry you lost your Chloe!!!
We went through that two years ago when my cocker muttley Morgan died! She was only about 8 years old (had gotten her from a rescue place, so her age was a guess), and her chest all filled with fluid, so they had to put her to sleep. My DH and I both bawled at the vet's and all the way home. We brought her home to bury, and now she has a beautiful rose bush of her own. She was the most perfect doggie, everyone loved her.
It might seem cold hearted to some, but we went the very next day and got Mollie, who has a lot of Morgan's personality. Morgan also died when we were expecting news of DH brother's impending death, so we just couldn't deal with the total absence of her too.
Everyone still talks of Morgan, but Mollie also has a special place with everyone too now. :-)

Nita I am so sorry for your loss. I had to put my best friend down in 1999. We got another dog within a week. I have never bonded with this dog. I think it was too soon for me. DH thinks the sun raises and sets on Scooter so she is well cared for. Hang in there girl. When loved ones become memories then memories become treasures.

Oh sweetie I am so sorry about Chloe. They become members of our families and leave an empty space in our hearts when they are gone. I'm sending a ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))))) )))))) to you from another pet lover.
