YES!!! Sounds VERY familiar! I used to be in that position until I got some backbone and started telling friends and family members, NO! Their "spin" on that is, "she has gotten hateful". My spin is: I am happy doing what I WANT TO DO! After all, it is my time they wanted to use!

Oh, bless us 'hateful' people! And don't forget that we are self-centered and selfish. No, I don't alter suit jackets to make them 2-3 sizes bigger, pants to make them 3" bigger or longer, nor do I turn bridesmaids dresses into something that can be worn to work. I don't make silk purses out of sow's ears either.

What I usually tell people is "I'm so sorry, I don't work with that type of fabric." Or, now that our retreats are booked for the entire year of 2012, I can just say that my sewing time is booked through the year 2012, all my projects have been scheduled.

That was great! My beginning sewers are already having this problems with their friends. We have a class dedicated to "just say no" techniques.

Absolutely fabulous. I also had a "friend" who wanted me to make the creation for free and got cranky when I asked her to by the thread and notions to go with it (after all, I was just supposed to have those...). The video was a hoot but its significance would be lost on those who do this.I've passed it on to sewing friends.
