We all have family trees, with some odd branchs.

castlegarden.org is great if your ancestors didn't come through Ellis Island.

I've been working on mine for a little while now, and I have a question, what do you do when you hit a dead end? I've gotten as much as I can find, but before my great grandfather on my dad's side, I have nothing. I don't even know if he had any siblings, and his children have all died. I can't even find an obituary. Do I just stop and look at the next branch? But thank you for the links, I've used them as well!

What is the last census you found your dead end in? and where did they live during that census.

PM me and I will try to help.

Graciemae, you are one of the lucky ones! West Virginia has one of the best genealogical libraries available in Charleston. The people are fantastic and can get you started down the right path faster than anything. If you live near Charleston then hit the Cultural Center - another thing that West Virginia does right is it has many, many records online at http://www.wvculture.org/index.aspx then click on Archives and history - they have birth, death and marriage records for all counties. pm me and I'll be glad to help in any way possible.
