Grandma was known as "gramass" and grandpa was "grapass" because mom and dad would tell them "we are going to granmas and grandpas. I guess that what it sounded like. Well the oldest is now 32 and still calls us that.

When my daughter had a C Section, we went to take care of the 18 month old.....they live in CA and we don't get to see them often, but we were there 6 weeks while she recouped from delivery. We stayed with another daughter who lived close by and when we arrived in the AM to take care of Isaac, I would say "Good Morning".....in his little mind he must have thought I was announcing who I was.....so I became "Morning" and both he and his sister call me that

I am Ya-ya, and my hubs is Poppy (there is also a cute story behind the poppy).

My grandson just turned 1 on April 13th. When someone says anything about
"ya-ya" he starts looking around for me.

To our oldest grandchild, we are Sue and John. Our daughter lived at home and when the GS started to call us Mom and Dad like she and our sons called us. We corrected and said no, this is Mom, we are Sue and John. It stuck. To this day he still calls us by our first names. He, however, did teach siblings, that we are GrandmaSue and GrandpaJohn.

Funny story: Our DD was in nursing school and our GS was w/the daycare mother. He related that he did not have grandparents. When DD returned to pick him up, the daycare mother asked what had happened to her "dead" parents. Our GS got really excited when she explained that we were much alive and he knew us by our first names.

We are Gramma and Grampa to the grands. GGma and GGpa to the Great Grands. I don't care for the other names.
At first you will not care what the Grand calls you. When he/she gets older you ca change it.

I'm known as Nana. I picked it. When anyone (friends or people in general) call me grandma around the grands they quickly point out that I'm NOT their grandma, I'm their NANA! One granddaughter joined our family at age 5. She had trouble saying Nana Dianna so she called me Nana Fadanna. Soo cute!

I'm MiMi and I love that name!! My sister-in-law chose "NaNa" (pronounced nah-nah) and my sisters chose "Mammaw" because that's what we called our grandmother.
