I was going to suggest this as well. We are hopefully moving in the next year and we will have our carpets professionally cleaned and then give the buyers a flooring allowance. We just repainted the whole interior and put on a new roof. We have already replaced all the flooring in the general living area with hardwood and both bathrooms with tile. We only have carpet in the three bedrooms and it is 13 yo. We just are not going to invest any more money in improvements.

ya I with those . More like the buy's are going to take it out . No one us carpet any more. It is not going to bring you any more money doing all that so do not wast your time just clean and let it be. Like they say in all those TV DIY show look at what is going to bring the cost up and do that floor every one put in new when they buy .

Over fifty years ago my MIL dyed her carpet with Ritz dye. It looked good and the last time I saw it it was still nice. Of course that was about 40 yrs ago.
