HE is so cute. I have a grown Bassett that went blind in both eyes. She had been an inside dog, so it made it easier for her to learn to get around. She already knew the area. We just learnt to call her and hit the floor for her to follow us. He will learn to use his scense of smell and watch you and will follow you.

What a strange thing to say. What do you mean?
    Ditto ????? ?????
Explanation please. I guess we need to consider the source -- Angus does live in "hell" alabama according to the profile.
ANGUS~~~what an absolutely horrible thing to say !!

    Love the name Browser...someone suggested.
Please, don't flame this poster.....Just a few weeks ago the baby of a woman raised in our town was killed by the family dog of a relative they were visiting, a rescue that got along well with his own children. The dog and baby were on the floor in another room, the family heard a sound from the dog and found the baby bitten . How could this happen? Well, the dog was deaf, the baby was a stranger and speculation is that the baby startled the dog in some way and was bitten.
that was horrible, BUT it is wrong to "get rid of" a deaf dog because of one most unfortunate happening. When I have visitors I place the dog in his cage. mostly for his protection since he does not know them. thank you for your concerned warning.

I don't know if anyone else chose this name, but while reading your post you said you lost your browser. I thought that was a good name for your cute little pup.
I go with "BROWSER" Good luck in whatever you choose.

can't decide a name, you are SO good taking him in.
I had a deaf pug but she was 3 when she came to me, and I didn't know she was deaf; I would use hand signals ----worked out by me ,and when we went out/to bed/to another room and she was asleep I would gently touch/stroke her /nudge her soft bed to wake her gently.
I did find however, if she were awake and I wanted to catch her attention I could clap my hands or shriek in a high pitch and that did the trick.
    good luck and bless you.

We had the same problem with our Penny. Took us a couple of months! She responded to "Little Red One" (Red being the name Doberman people use to describe her color instead of brown or chocolate), until we finally came up with Penny. After that, she never responded to the Little Red One anymore.

    I seen Boston's named Tuxedo. 8-)
