The origin of the word QUILT
Back in the 1800's there was a club of ladies who loved to play with fabric. They called their club, "Quite Understandably, I Love Textiles." This got abbreviated to Q.U.I.L.T., or quilt. Soon people referred to the patchwork bed coverings they made as "quilts".
