Am SO very sorry, there but for the grace of god; my husb is SO bad, and can leave doors unlocked/open; even did this on back door of our 2nd home, thank goodness I went up two days later.
We still have a chewed bttm bit of door where he left porch door open all night then locked it on going out trapping a mouse who then tried to escape.
I ALWAYS go back to check when going out myself that all windows closed, roll count of dogs,and doors locked.

A terrible feeling to have your house invaded. Someone stole my son's billfold and money from his truck sitting in front of our house. Makes you have so many bad feelings.

It's bad enough that you lost so many precious things, now stop beating yourself up for leaving the door unlocked! When someone wants to break in, they're going to break in!
I bet they didn't take any fabric! :)
