I always, always use the food processor to grate the soap, and make the dry version, 1 - 14.1 oz Bar Fels Naptha, 3 Cups Borax, and 3 Cups WASHING (not baking) soda. Been using this for a very long time now, and since I have such good results, I've passed the "recipe" to all of my friends. Now we ALL use this recipe and have cleaner clothes and save $$$.

I also use 1/4 cup of vinegar as a fabric softener, in the washer fabric softener dispenser and a ball of aluminum foil to stop the static cling in the the dryer.

All of the above work great.

I don't know about this recipe, but i use a recipe that uses nels patha soap, borax and washing soda. Makes about 4 gallons of liquid laundry soap, i use it in my front loader with no problems. My son uses it in his top loader. We don't use bleach. We have even cut down on the amount of stain remover we have to use. Hope this helps.

A ball or aluminum foil? Hmmm. How does that work?

I have been using it for years. so cheap and works wonderfully! Great for the HE machines. gentle for babies. The longer you use it the softer your clothes are. It takes a while to get all of the residue out left from the commercial detergents. Your towels will fluff up like new again.

Candicane, will you post the recipe? Or PM me with it? I tried a recipe from Tipnut a while back and liked it. Went back to Tide HE as we are on a well and hard water. I would like to try some other recipes. Thanks!

I started making the liquid laundry soap with fels napha, borax and washing soda last year. I love it and am just now needing to purchase more ingredients. I have the front loader HE and have not had any problems using my soap. There are no suds. I haven't used regular bleach but have use color safe product.
