no, you aren't the stupid one, you are the victim. These people are stupid, ignorant, and if they have such wonderful computer skills, why don't they go out and use these awesome skills to get a REAL job!

i'd like to export my entire contact list to my new google account. does anyone know how to do this or do you have to be a paid member of google? if a have to i will write it out by hand and retypre everything.

explain that please. the contact list was what the hacker got into. that's how he sent those stupid messages. is it even safe to take those with me? should i write it out by hand and retype it?

I agree, I would write it out by hand...just wouldn't chance doing anything else with that email account. But that's just me.

Exporting it could cause you to export any virus/worm/trojan code in the file. You can copy and paste the text of the list into a text editor, but don't copy the file itself.

Does anyone know what kind of text editor her Mac would have?

Have you checked to see if any viruses or worms got into your computer? And have you checked your credit report to see if anything suspicious is on there?

IMPORTANT!

I can't believe this didn't occur to me until today, but you used a card (credit or debit) to pay them for a "service." You need to call the Fraud Line for your card to report it.

This won't just stop them from getting more money off your card, it will:
a) make you not liable for what they charged against it, so you won't lose the money you paid
b) give the authorities a way to trace these creeps.
