As a nurseryman's wife, I was a total failure at liking roses
and orchids!!
But I do love the old climbing ones, that are never seen any
more. None seem to have an odor that I remember from my
childhood in WV.
Be sure to add Epsom Salt to the soil..not a sodium but a good
source of magnesium, our nursery ordered it in 50 pound bags
and used it in all pots we sold.
Water in the early day but don't spray the leaves, and remember
the old finger trick to check after they start growing new leaves.
No plant likes to sit in water, but do like moist soil. I always mixed
the soil around the roots with rotted sawdust, a little peat moss, a
little cat litter (NEW) remember, it's made to hold moisture! And
a little bit of rotted leaves, then I stamp it down tight and water.
FAR too many of my plants live...I've gotta get rid of some this
summer..yard sale, here I come!!
