Default How do you figure?

When you see a sale for X% off an item -

Which do you "figure" first?

How much you will "save"?

0r

How much you will have to actually pay for the item?

Example:

An item's regular selling price was $1000.

It was first reduced 20% from the regular selling price.

Then it was reduced 15% from the first reduced price.

Then it was reduced another 26% from the second reduced price.

So - which number is more important to you? The "savings" or the "amount to pay"?

The final price is all that matters. (But it is fun to know that it's a bargain.)

The final price and then I debate that I could save the whole amount if I don’t need it at all.

If only the % discounts are listed, and you have to calculate the final price, then they are both important!
20% off 1000 = 1000 - 200 = 800
15% off 800 = 800 - 120 = 680
26% off 680 (wait; I need my calculator!) = 680 - 176.80 = 503.20
Why didn't they just say 50% off in the beginning?

I don't go by price as much as value for the money. A quality item for 10% off will be a better buy then a less quality item for 30% off to me.
When I buy two items at 40% off I tell myself I saved 80% . No one can tell me two 40% doesn't equal 80%. LOL Well in money math it isn't but it works for me.

I always go by the final price of an item. The best deal I ever got was for a penny a yard about a year go and JAF. I discovered at out store you can always ask for a deeper discount on items in the clearance racks. Not so much on regular sale items just the clearance racks.

If I have the money and the fabric bolt is in my arms, I figure it's mine.

Bottom line figure-out the door.

If I really want it and can afford it then I get it. On sale is always fun though.

I bought several pieces of fabric at Hobby Lobby. 30% off each cut about 10 or 12 pieces. The 30% off is figured by the Lady cutting. When I got to the check out Lady took 30% off each piece again. So I saved 60% off each piece. Not bad. Too bad I didn't buy lots more.

The best deal I have ever gotten.
