What a night you faced and what smart reactions. I'm not sure I'd do the right things if put to the test. How very scary. Hope that's the last of it. Be sure to let us know.

You did the right thing. Good for you for not opening up your door and being willing to protect yourself...as scary as it was.

I was up all night but not for that reason! I think I would have had the phone in my hand calling the first time they were at the door. I would have been loud enough for them to hear me too.'

How scary.

Before we retired my husband used to work out of town four night a week. You better believe I had my friend right next to me and the alarm system activated by 5:30 in the winter and 7 during the summer.

That had to be down right scary. We live on a private road kind of in the mountain...16 homes. About a month ago 2 homes were invaded while the people were at home. Whoever it was ran when they heard the men say something about getting or having their gun.

Where we lived before 3 times we had someone come to the door with flimsy excuses that they wanted to come in. The one time our son...he was 17 at the time and lifted weights and played sports so he was big...had taken his girlfriend out for dinner and just got home. We had a doberman that...by choice...stayed in the basement family room. We just had a new kitchen floor installed and she refused to walk across it. Well...there was a knock on the front door and Derek opened it (storm door locked) and this guy was dressed all in black with white lipstick and eye makeup and said his car broke down right down the road because of...THE WIND. lol It wasn't windy that night. He wanted to use the phone...our son said nope. About that time Jetta the doberman came charging up the stairs and right across that new floor and stood at the door and growled. The guy said forget it and ran across the yard. Funny thing is...my son watched him and he did not go back down the street...there were 3 other houses before ours...instead he ran back through the cornfields behind our house.

My son said he really was not scared because he could have taken the guy easily but...did the guy have a weapon? This was back in 1989 so I think it was just a bit before dressing Gothic became popular.

why wouldn't you let them know you have a gun and that you will use it?

I am so sorry that this happened but, I am glad that you are okay, just very jittery. I pray that they will be found and that this will not happen to anyone else! My heart and prayers are with you.
