I had posted here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-127535-1.htm a couple weeks back about a momma hummingbird nesting in the tree above our patio.

Well, we had our daughter cutting some branches back from our roof. From her view up there, she was able to take a look down in the nest and find a teeny tiny egg and a teeny tiny baby!

Thanks very interesting. We have Hummingbirds, haven't seen any nest. Since the invasion of cicadias it the area they haven't been around much, maybe it is time to have babies.

Ours is about the size of a golfball. The picture makes it look much larger than it is.

That picture of the hummingbird nest must be very rare. How awesome to see a baby hummingbird. Thank you for posting.

There was a "hummingbird cam" on the internet - probably still there and many of us would check in to see the Mom bird fly off and back as she incubated. Then the eggs hatched and I think the babies are still in the nest. Was so fun - even if I was on another site, if that cam was open on another tab I could hear what sounded like a faint motorbike as the Mom flew off and on the nest!

I know I have nests but they are way up in the Leyland Cypress and well hidden, so I really appreciate this photo!

    Thanks!!

Hummingbirds are fascinating to watch. I just put out two feeders, hoping that some will come to my yard.

They are so fun to watch. Had a nest with two babies in it outside my office. I watched and took pics of them just as you did from the time momma started to laying the eggs til the day that they flew away. Boy they grow fast. Before you know the nest will be nothing but babies. No room to move around in. Enjoy watchint them grow.
