Computer slaves are where several computers are linked but not necessarily at the same location. I have had computers slaved so that I can be in another city and remotely use my serving computer and the data stored on the hard drive. Now that flash drives are so much cheaper and more portable this isn't done much anymore unless you are talking about large mainframe computer systems.

I hope this less confusing than I think it sounds.

Believe it or not...I understood that! I think I would prefer using the flash drive though.

I do too as lond as there is enough memory space. Sometimes those slaved computers are accessing things like AutoCAD which is a memory hog. I also use an external hard drive since they have really reduced in bulk. It kind of depends on who I'm working for and what exactly I'm doing.
