A lot of my scraps are finally living as I clean out the flooded basement! Big pieces in the wash and before long I know I will have a new pile of scraps...love the pet bed idea!

I love this idea. My mom saves her scraps for me, and then she asked the ladies at her church sewing circle to save them, and they told two friends, and they told two friends, and now I have a million scraps. I have sorted many of them, but I have a lot to sort still. I will keep this idea in mind and post when I get a box full. I'm thinking priority mail would be a great way to ship them. All you can stuff in a box for a set price.

I read a great tip about the triangles you cut off to make half square triangles. Sew an addition seem 1/2-inch from the first one, then cut them between the two seams. You end up with an additional hst to use for something else.

This works very well, but sometimes they are pretty tiny, great for miniatures though.

Mine would have been too tiny to do that, so I trimmed them off at the regular 1/4" but sewed the little guys with a very thin seam allowance (1/8" maybe). I plan to do minis with them so there will be no stress on the seams.

Yes, often they are tiny, but I've had some that were actually a size I might use.

I have been saving the little triangles, cut from HSTs and plan on sewing them into squares, trimming them into same size squares and making a quilt out of them. I'm starting to like scrappy quilts a lot and these should be just that.

I find it is easiest if I sew them right away. If I put them in the scrap bag, they are just scrap triangles.

I'll be glad to accept any scraps that nobody wants!!! Please PM me with what you don't want. Don't have much of a fabric stash at all, and would love any fabric I can get my hands on, no matter how small!!
