On a similar theme, I have a 12 inch pressing/cutting mat that lives on a table by my machine. I use it daily with my mini iron. Somehow, it gets filthy. No idea where the dirt comes from. I don't want to remove the cover and risk not getting it back on properly (would have to take the whole thing completely apart) but it looks awful. I've tried scrubbing it in place with bleach and dish soap and it helps a little. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'll definitely use the freezer paper idea once it's clean. the cut/press mats are too pricey to replace very often.

Cover it up. Make a pillow case type cover, maybe closed with Velcro on the bottom, and wash whenever needed.

Great idea Tartan! I definitely need to try that. My board gets so much stuck to it and a tiresome chore trying to get it clean. Thanks for the tip.

I am happy to see so many tips on cleaning the surface of your pressing station and keeping it clean. The idea of using the upholstery attachments to clean the surface is something I would never considered in a zillion years! Although I haven't used freezer paper over the mat, this surely will be something to do soon. For years I have used the cover cloth over my pressing board and replace it with its mate while the first one is being laundered. Look for a used Quilt in a Day zippered pillow case type cover to enclose the unsightly press and cut unit. Great discussion on a cloudy, wet autumn day. Thx
