I don't "get" Pinterest.

I do enjoy Pinterest and since I draft my own patterns, I have no problems. Sometimes if a link is broken, I look for the website and Google it. What I don't like is that Google is becoming bogged down with Pinterest links when I am looking for something. When I Google something, I want an actual site not pictures from Pinterest.

Watson...so true!! Frustrates me also! I use it to collect pics, and make my own boards, for different kinds of quilts I like. I've made those boards private...my own filing system. Tartan...agree with the google search also...find it bothersome!!

I use it to pin photos I like. I also use it to file pics from other sources. I do agree with Sewnoma, Google brings up so many Pinterest sites. I never click on them.
As soon as I enter any word or phrase that are of interest to me into google search, a bunch of Pinterest links pop up. Truly loathe that aspect of Google.

Glad to see that I am not the only one.
I was thinking that it was just me, and not being "with it" for all these different things!
Question ... does the person who pins it in the first place have different accesses to links than those of us who are the nosey-parkers to what they have pinned?
Just wondering!

i'm not a fan, either. it is extremely difficult to locate the source of many of the pins. when someone says they found it on pinterest, i just cringe. it's not really on pinterest, the picture is a link to another location... and one should find the actual location to give credit to the actual source of the picture.

Wow,
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I'm also checking to see if pinterest is in my search & giving it a miss. Dunster, I will try your suggestion next time as Pinterest just frustrates me so. Rabbit hole describes it so well.

[QUOTE=dunster;7882477]If you're doing a google search, add '-pinterest.com' to your search parameters and it will not look in pinterest for results. This does not necessarily work for all search engines. Thanks Dunster, I used -pinterest.com and it works great.

I get a lot of ideas for quilts from Pinterest. Sometimes you can get quilting tips and tools that you've not heard before. I agree about the frustration from going somewhere you don't want to go when clicking on something but sometimes I just pin the picture for color ideas. I am challenged in picking out colors for quilts and Pinterest has helped in that area.
