My DH had knee surgery on tuesday. He's confined to the house. Normally he's out in the garage "tinkering". The poor thing is bored to death. Any ideas on how to relieve his boredom? Thanks for any input.

word searches, cards, games, computer games, I to like the money and the shopping idea! LOL.....help him out side so he can sit and soak up some sun. Just keep that leg covered so it doesn't dry out or burn.

What about wooden models, puzzles or a video game?

Or something he can tinker with at the table like rotary cutting you some strips. :P

The worst scenario -- a DH laid up, can't do their normal routine.....ARRRRRGH! Yeah, I'd leave and go shopping, too!

I was just in that position witha broken ankle. Reading, puzzles, word games, movies (I am not much of a TV watcher but the first few weeks I watched more than I ever have this past year). Set him up with things beside him to work on as he chooses. The computer also saved my butt.

My DH either sleeps or watches TV. That is it. He's also hard of hearing and keeps the tv blasting all the time. Drives me nuts! Unfortunetly he's disabled and it's really hard for him to get around, so therefore, he justs sits (mostly lays). Men....Can't live with 'em, and can't kill 'em!

show him how to make individual hexagon blocks for you, then to sew them together!!
Melinda, i feel for you. my hubby is 20 yrs older than me and the tv blares all day and night. he won't get hearing aids or use the ear phone thing we got, so i tend to live downstairs for now. just for my sanity!

I don't know what to tell you. My DH becomes a big baby when he is sick or is stuck inside for any reason. Get him to cut out blocks for you. If he won't do it then he is not that bored. Lol

I was just about to suggest you teach him to make a quilt. Maybe he needs a cover for something in his workshop? Or tell him he can be "helping" you.

Can he sit by the computer? How about he play some online games?
The Army has a good one, and it's free: http://www.americasarmy.com/
There are many others, war, adventure, fantasy, puzzle, etc. games.

Poor thing....they can be babies can't they. I assume you have tried the usual reading, watching TV, etc. If he can get to a computer or laptop, alot of men LOVE some of these new war type games that are out now. Maybe look out in his garage and see if he has things that need greased or organized....like maybe he has a big thing of nuts/bolts/screws that need sorted. Get him some jelly jars and a big towel to keep the bed clean and let him start organizing them. I'll be praying for him to have a speedy recovery and for you to have lots of time AWAY...LOL.

Can he organize your patterns or magazines in boxes? sort your fat quarters by color? iron fabrics after you've washed them? Sit by your machine and iron your pieces after you've sewed seams...get hime involved and maybe he'll get hooked.

DD had shoulder surgery a month ago and she is only happy when she is doing something with me. I'm hoping to find something on this thread to get her busy.
