I've seen robins here all winter, along with Cardinals and Blue Jays Which is quite strange for me. I originate from a small lake front town on the outskirts of Toledo, Ohio and the only critters we see up there this time of year are deers and rabbits. And those crazy ice fishermen.

I've always been delighted to see the robins arrive in March. My sister's birthday is March 12th and most years that is the day I see them for the first time. That said, I read a few years ago that robins are actually around year round, but the ones you see in January are not the ones you see in June. Evidently they migrate south but only to a point. And I do see them, not flocks like in March, but individuals pretty much any time of the year.

We usually see the robins here in February. January heralds an earlier spring. Hope yours did not just get lost and they are telling us some good news. Oh, and I haven't seen any here yet.

We live in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains in northern NY, about 3 hours at least north of Kooklabell. We rode over near Lake Champlain the other day to look for a snowy owl and we saw dozens of robins. I'm sure there were well over 100 at least. They were some in a couple different fields foraging and a few in nearby trees. I have never seen that many robins in the north country during winter before. In fact you rarely see any at all until about March or April. I have no idea why they were there or how long they had been there but it was a sight to see that many this time of year. There were lots of other birds in the area as well but they were ones you'd expect to see in the winter like blue jays, grosbeaks, starlings, etc.

Yes, I had a small flock of Robins over a week ago and at that time, there was also a large flock of Blackbirds, but most scary of all is that the Sugar Maples and some of the blackberry bushes and a few other shrubs were all starting to bud weeks ago, at least three or four weeks ago. Yesterday it was 18 in the morning, today 28 and it is snowing like crazy.

Thr robins have started to winter in Central Nebraska in the canyons of the hills. They eat the prairie grass seeds and the berries from the cedar trees. My friend, who lives in the hills, has a stream he keeps open all winter and huge flocks come for water every day.

I live in Utah and the Robins have been hanging around my yard all winter, snow, cold, and all. Keep wondering if we are going to have an early spring.
