This is exactly why we don't have a doggie door. I want to see my girls going out and keep an eye on them in the yard. Last night when I opened the back door to let our shepherd out there was a black snake (not poisonous) butted up to the door and wiggling    Normally I am not a wuss about black snakes, it's part of living in FL - but wasn't expecting it and shocked. My girl walked out before I saw it. I immediately called her in from the side door.

So if any of you heard a LOUD scream a few minutes after 5 pm last night, that was me LOL! :-P

I would never be able to sleep in that house again. If a 6-ft gator can get in, think snakes.........

LOL.... When I was a kid living in that neck of the woods. A family friend put a 4 foot baby gator in the bathtub. He accidentally hooked it while fishing on Lake Tarpon, so he brought it home and put it in the tub.

It was too funny. He did not mention it to us kids, the first one to go in to use the facilities sure was surprised.

After the initial surprise, we brought the gator back to the lake and have had a bunch of laughs over it for years.

You are definitely a FL girl. DH’s family moved to FL from PA when he was a teenager. They found a small gator in the pool the first month they moved in.

    AAAAHHHH!!! That is scary.

I'm not a native Floridian so it took time to get used to the 'critters' here. Now I pay close attention when going outside, especially now that spring is in the air and it's mating season. Last night's snake visit at the door was a reminder of that.

And that's why I don't live in Florida.
