Default Interesting Find

I was recently given this miniature. I have searched the internet until I can't see straight and can find nothing similar. It looks to me like a mini tool box or a coca cola carrier. It is 1 1/4 inches long, 3/4 inch tall and gold color. The only marking is a decorative scroll on the front. When the "key" is put in the slot, the bottom part slides out. Also the handle moving to the left will make it slide out. Due to the lack of gold stamping marks, I'm sure it is not valuable but I would love to know what it is. evy Sorry the photos are so large!

Thank you so much! There are even you tube videos of one! I think it's so interesting and am glad to know exactly what it is. By the way, love your avatar. Log cabins are my favorite and in fact I made one very similar you yours. Thanks again.

Yup. My Mother grew up in Shanghai and there is a Chinese chest in our family that she has had since childhood. It has one of those locks on it... but bigger.

I love the "What is this?" posts. I feel like I learn so much about unusual objects and I am always impressed with the knowledge on this board!

I might be wrong, but looking at your picture, it looks more like tarnished silver than gold. A jueweler or pawn shop could tell you what the metal might be using a chemical test.....
