Oh my goodness I feel so sorry for the lady in the article Not as much for her hoarding but for having such an unloving lazy unmotivated child. What child that loves their parent could post pictures like that? What an ungreatful child, it is living there what does it say about him? His room does not have to look like that it was almost as bad as the rest of the house

I think what's important here is to note her behavior. She refuses to get rid of junk mail as she is afraid her identity will be stolen and she is hoarding old pill bottles, etc. Also, she has an e-bay addiction. He has tried, but she is resistant. He is living at home because he is in school full time.

How in the world did her kid not nip this in the bud I say shame on the child that he/she should help the Mom I'll have nightmares tonight but after reading the comments I decided not to sleep at all ----The hard truth is WE ALL could have that dormant gene I know I do but I limit it to vital necessities Fabric -Threads-Antique Sewing Machines and all my tools that I made my living with. The thing that scared me was the tub full of boxes my spare bath tub is full of boxes but thats because I 'll be moving and I will recycle them when they get empty

Mother needs professional help...big time.
I do hope she doesn't smoke!
There was a house fire near here this morning, elderly lady died in the bathroom because she couldn't navagate the cluttered living room in the dark after the first started.
Sad.

My mom had a room in her house filled with lots of misc. treasures that she would not let ANYONE into - she put a sign on the door "MEASLES ROOM KEEP OUT". When she developed alzheimers and we needed to clean out her home, we opened the door to find all her treasures, took lots of time to go through, but remembered the good days as we looked at every one! Laughing and crying at the same time, sadly, this is life. :?

That poor woman. But, I did notice her "stuff" was a little neater than some I've seen on the hoarding programs on TV, not just all in a jumble. I couldn't sleep with the mess and can't understand the condition. I hope she gets some help.
