Sounds like a plan that works great for you and for the police! Wednesday night there's a show on about a lady who trains service dogs--should be interesting! I'm always amazed at how they train these animals to do different things!

Here are some of the pictures I took yesterday...not the best quality, wish Karla had been here with her camera! :) THEN you'd most likely see some great pictures, but these will give you an idea of what we got to watch! :)

FUN TIME!!

The handlers with the younger dogs chant "Find it!" over and over...the more experienced dogs only get told once.

This guy has a youngun...and he's VERY serious about this training...I don't think he liked us being there, but he didn't object either. His little girl is hitting on a sealed garbage bag with 10 pounds of marijuana, through a closed door. You can see the rolled up towel that he has behind his back, he's about to yell "WOOHOO!" and toss it for her!

This handler was really a nice guy, and very proud of his dog, one of the more experienced dogs in this rotation. They had 8 stations here in town, we were just one of them.

Same youngun, different station

This is a young dog, and just learning his trade. The experienced dogs are great to watch, but it's fun to see how they train them to begin with.

Just a few of the K-9 cars

Describing the "scene" to the handler

*SNIFF* He smells it...

There are quite a mix of breeds that they use for these sniffers.
One officer had a pitbull/hound mix, one had a border collie, one had a border collie mix, there were labs of all colors, German shepards, but what we saw the most of were the Belgian Malinois...this page will tell you about them. :)

Oh, I know that breed. They are very pretty, and smart. I have seen many shows. I got very stuffy at an indoor show once. It was not until many years later that I found out I am allergic to Basset Hounds.
