I have made drapes for the living room, curtains for the bathroom, curtains and valances to replace the old ones in the camper, etc.....all made with cottons and lined with muslin!

They hold up very nice. Wash, tumble dry, iron, hang back up.

IMHO, much nicer than any that I have bought premade in stores.

The valances in the camper have pockets all the way across them....works for us it creates extra storage for small light wt objects and handy to get to.

I don't see why you can't use cotton. BTW I love the idea of the pockets in the valances, Naudeegal. Very innovative.

My kitchen valence is all cotton fabrics. I made a quilt first for a wall hanging, liked it so much I made extra blocks, changed them up just a tad and I love my new valance!!

Here are the ones I made a about 18 months ago. They were originally in our old house. But thankfully I was able to use them here in our new home.

I use cotton/polyester blend or sheers, use twice or 2-1/2 times width of the window to make them real full. I've never lined them but, I do have mini blinds behind them. Just what I do.

Very pretty I love the color. Glad you could take them to your new house. They look like lots of work. Thanks for sharing.
